preceding chapter,
make the apposition in such a way that the Idle letters, which are in this case
thirteen, shall also be Significant by Oblique Transposition.
This result may be obtained, if we write the first four Idle letters, L.
M. N. O. alongside the table, as in the other way perpendicularly; or if we
choose to join together eight letters, four, L. M. N. O., horizontally, and the
following four P. Q, R. S., perpendicularly, placing the remaining five letters,
T. V. X. Y. Z., alongside the table as in the third table in the same Chapter
Fourteen, first horizontally, and then, in the case of the four of these, as T.
V. X. Y. perpendicularly. If you arrange these Idle letters in this way, you will then
have three of four devices combined. For
example, let the several secret words be: Balneum Confert, Impuris.
Now from the threefold device will arise the following combinations: Adlruyacnrxubcnqytboszuagmpyxiopuyaoryy.
I make further reference here and
there in the preceding chapters to this Figurative Transposition, but I have
deemed it unnecessary to call attantion to this fact.
It is enough to have spoken of the method here.
